HubCamp - Your Guide to Good Hubbing

On the final week of September, HubPages is going to hold HubCamp: an in-person meeting of Hubbers in San Francisco where we’ll go over some of the finer points of becoming an effective online writer.

Wer’e still in the planning stages, but because it’s all about the hubber community, we were hoping you’d let us know what you want us to cover at this first ever HubCamp.  Below are some topics we’re thinking of covering – visit the HubCamp forum thread to let us know which ones are most important to you, and let us know if you’d like us to cover something else as well!

Potential HubCamp Seminar Topics

  • Basic keyword research
  • Selecting topics
  • Linking
  • Driving traffic
  • How to select titles
  • Basic tips on writing content for an online audience
  • A profile of the ideal hub (a description of the optimal number of capsules, links, and words based on our analysis of hub statistics and revenue)

Also, let us know if you’re interested in coming! We’d love to see you there!!

  1. Wow, that’s really short notice for those of us who would have to come from the East Coast. Maybe some other time.

  2. Will you be doing an ‘east coast’ version of this!!!??? Also will there be a transcript of any of the presentations? Sounds really useful!

  3. “A profile of the ideal hub (a description of the optimal number of capsules, links, and words based on our analysis of hub statistics and revenue)”

That one’s very important to me, but unfortunately I live all the way in Florida and will not be able to make it to this HubCamp.

Is there a chance it will all be video taped for the rest of us Hubbers around the US (and world)?

  4. Would love to attend something similar on the east coast and had we been given a few months notice we would have made arrangements to come. Can it be video conferenced or taped and put on the site for those of us unable to attend? A seminar just for newbies would be great, just to discuss or dispell our specific concerns and occasional confusion.

  5. This is something I would totally be interested in going to – if it were in my area. There’s just no way I can afford to take off work & get a plane ticket. If one was held in MN that would be great.
I like the idea of a video being made.

  6. I wish I could come to it but unfortunately I will not be able yto make it. Driving traffic and the ideal hub I would find extremely helpful. would there be any way we could get the classes from the proposed camp in like an e-zine or a special edition for hubbers?

  7. Would love to attend something similar on the east coast and had we been given a few months notice we would have made arrangements to come. Great idea, the proposed hubcamp topics sounds really good. Thanks for sharing…

  8. Trying to find a way to get to the West Coast . . . unless you are planning something similar in the Washington, DC / Baltimore MD Metro area, too.. September / October offers GREAT CAMPING weather and alternatives all along the East Coast (i.e. C&D Canal which runs from Cumberland, MD to D.C. and also to Pittsburgh, PA). Brenda G. Settle

  9. Love to come but maybe when you decide to hold the hibcamp in Australia….I hope that you will be able to give all the hubbers an insight into what makes a good hubber who earns! A step by step would n’t be such a bad idea …cheers and I hope that it goes well with all the attendees…

  10. I would love to come to the camp; however, being on the east coast with school in session, it would be hard to fly across the country. I am a new hubber and need all the help I can get.

Hopefully you will plan to conduct a Hub Camp on the east coast soon.
