The Challenge
Yesterday as I was aimlessly wandering about on the web, I found an interesting blog post that was written up by a guy names Court over on a site called The Keyword Academy. It was titled New Make Money Experiment – 100 Hubs In 30 Days and it talked about how Court has suddenly realized that HubPages was a legit place to earn some money by writing (duh!) and how he was going to attempt to write 100 Hubs in the next 30 days so that he could see what the true potential was.

Well, me being the overly ambitious guy that I am, commented on his blog and challenged him to see who could produce more earnings by writing 100 Hubs in 30 days, him or me. Since that comment Court and I have emailed a few time back and forth and now it’s turned out to an even bigger thing than we ever expected.

From the looks of it, tons of people that read his blog are joining in the challenge and after posting some information about the challenge here in the HubPages forums, it looks like some Hubbers are up for it, too (some at 30 in 30 days, some at 100 in 30 days).

If you’d like to join in on the Hub Challenge, head on over here for more details: HubPages.com/HubChallenge — and don’t worry, you can do it…I think? πŸ™‚

How To Join
Also, if you do want to join up, here are 3 simple steps to follow along the 30 day journey:

1. If you Tweet info about your progress with the Hub Challenge could you please use the #HubChallenge hashtag after each of your tweets so that we can keep an eye on what everyone’s up to and how their challenge is going. Also, you can follow HubPages on Twitter here for overall challenge updates: Twitter.com/HubPagesDOTcom.

2. Once you start writing your Hubs, please add a ‘HubChallenge’ tag to any Hub that you’re writing for your 30 Day Hub Challenge so that we can do some cool reporting and analysis on the Hubs that we’re all writing during our 30 days.

3. Write a blog and let all of your friends know that you’re crazy enough to accept the challenge and be sure to use one of these images below whenever you post something. πŸ™‚

  1. I’m a big fan og HUBpages, but you’re not going to like this. 100 HUBS in 30 days is a dumb idea. It has pure selfish interests. I like to think of HUBpages as a quality over quantity site. Writing 100 HUBS is a waste of time. Pure greed. Disappointing.

  2. Sorry you feel that way, Dave! I would actually have to agree on one thing though, many of our authors are writing out of selfish interests, but no more selfish interests than anyone else in the world who’s trying to earn from using their talents.

Plus, I’m not sure if you’ve seen the forum post about the HubChallenge or not, but it’s full of Hubbers who see the HubChallenge as a fun way to improve their writing and build some more community.

You should join in on the fun before you start putting it down. We’d be more than happy to have you join!

  3. I heard about this from Court’s site and decided to give it a whirl. I’ve done my first three with another 1 or 2 coming tonight. I have a vacation that is smack in the middle so I can’t commit to the hundred but I will give ‘er a good go.

  4. I think this is a great challenge Ryan. Not sure I will have the time to keep up, but it has inspired me to revamp and republish a few hubs I had given up on. I like the idea of working towards a goal, and publishing more hubs this month is the one for me.

  5. I’m new to this but this challenge has my creative juices flowing. I am definitely going to give this a whirl, though I will miss out on two weeks of writing time due to non-internet access as I’ll be far away from civilization and all its amemnities….

  6. OK, I’ve decided to do the 30 hubs in 30 days challenge. This should be interesting. Everything and anything that rattles around up their will get to go free. Best wishes to those doing 100 in 30 days.

  7. I’m not sure this is going to make me scads of $$$$ but I’m willing to do it. Kind of nervous that it will drag my score down too, but if you’re promoting it, I figure there must be a reason, so I’m in. I love this site Ryan. Such nice folks here.

  8. Ryan, the 100 hubs in 30 days is in line with goal setting to produce more quality, interesting and relevant hubs.

My writing average is about 4 hubs a day so this challenge is really a work in progress.

I hope I remember to list hubchallenge as a tag, use the hash tag #hubchallenge when twittered and use the banner 100 hubs in 30 days after each post.

  9. 100 hubs in 30 days hmmm , going to be tough . I joined hub pages a while ago but haven’t really used it , maybe this will provide the inspiration πŸ™‚

  10. Ok Ryan – I’m in … actually, me and my wife are going to tag team on this one. I’ve created a new profile and we are already writing … I think I’m getting a blister… lol.

  11. I have been suffering from writers impotence over the past 3 months..this is just what I need to put the love back in my pants…count me in.

  12. I have pondered this daily since reading about it over the weekend… having only published 1 hub thus far it seems foolish to try for 30, let’s not even mention 100!

But guess what… I’m taking the plunge – I will grow my wings on the way down!

  13. I will give it a go!
I started 4 days ago now… 10 hubs and counting! I’m not sure if I’ll make it to 100 or not but I’ll do my best!

  14. yeah of course, it would be a wonderful experience, though i’m new but all the same i will definitely love the challenge.

  15. I have now listed over 100 titles on my hubpages account. Now all I have to do is fill in the content. I thankyou for this. Not only have I got 100 titles, but Ive got to read some amazing hubs that are so fantastic and inspirational. Thanks.

  16. I am new to hubpages as of yesterday. As I was looking around this morning I found the challenge. I think its a wonderful idea. I’m still a little nervous when it comes to writing so I probably wont do the complete challenge. But I will challenge myself to write as many as hubs as I can in 30 days. I am going to do this to help my creative flow and to get the nervousness out of me. Thanks Ryan, you’ve made my first days worthwhile

  17. OK, I think that this challenge is stupid because it makes people write articles very fast and as a result of that people tend to write poor quality content because they just want the hubs to get done.

  18. I don’t know if I’m too late to join this or can we just start the challenge at any time and count day 1 from the day we start?

I’ve been wanting to take writing more seriously but have seriously been stuck in a rut. This sounds like a great way to break out of the comfort zone. 100 Hubs in 30 days might be a bit much, but I think 30 in 30 sounds doable…

  19. OK, so I intended to do the 100/30 hubchallenge, but it didn’t work out that way. Since I said “YES!”, I picked up some very intensive work which took a solid week, then unexpectedly had to go away 200 miles at the drop of a hat – with no internet access… and now I’m back, I’m just back to do the washing and pack again because I have to go back 200 miles away for 7-10 days this week … again, with no Internet access.

But, I will complete the 100 … just not in 30 days.

Should have picked the winter, when I snuggle down inside more πŸ™‚

It’s a scorcher of a day here right now and we get precious little sun in the UK, so writing hubpages really isn’t high priority πŸ™‚

  20. While I have not officially taken the challenge, I definitely have made an effort to increase the amount of hubs I have published.

It is too early, to gather any new results yet – but I am sure in about a month I will be able to see some good (or otherwise) from the increased efforts. Anyone else have anything to report yet?

  21. Yes, I am ready for the challenge. I don’t know what’s going to happen in the next few days or in the month. But as a human being I am take up the challenge and I try my best to achieve this.

  22. I also agree that writing 100 hubs in 30 days would lead to loads of less in quality content published at hubpages. Yes, 30 hubs in 30 days is a good idea and I will do that but after one of my exam gets over.

  23. I started writing a couple of weeks ago to see how it would go…I have to say, I’m up for the 30 hubs in 30 days, seeing as how I’m on week 2 and I’m almost at 20. I think they’re pretty good…I think the speed is coming from the desire I’ve had to get this info out into the world for a long time.

I haven’t been tagging my hubs as the 30 day challenge…so maybe I’ll be the only one who knows…but that ok. Thanks for the opportunity!
