Hello Hubbers,

I’m Thomas, and I work for the AdSense team in Dublin, Ireland and today I’d like to talk to you guys about how to drive quality traffic to your Hubs so you can increase your AdSense ads click-through-rate (CTR), and earn more money. From your emails, there were a lot of questions related to getting more traffic to your Hubs as well as improving the search ranking of your posts. We’ll go over four different topics today that can help you tackle both those issues. If you’re not an AdSense user already click here to sign up! Now, lets go ahead and dive in!

1. Write authentic, non-scripted, easy-to-read and structured content.

The most important piece of advice I can give you about driving quality traffic is to write authentic, non-scripted, easy-to-read and structured content such as a guide to road tripping across America, tips on raising Nigerian drawf goats, or directions on conducting cool ice experiments with kids! Interesting content will gain recognition on its own. People want to read interesting, unique and original content, so according to the law of supply and demand, if you write that type of content, the readers will come! Hubbers, please remember this! This is GOLDEN!

The best way to apply this advice is surprisingly simple! All you need to do is write about topics that you enjoy, that you love, that you are passionate about. It could be your favorite hobby, your job, your travel, your favorite music style, how you learn to dance, cooking tips that your mom taught you.

Important: please check, double-check, even triple-check that the content of your Hubs comply with the Google AdSense Content Policies.

2. Get inspiration from Google AdWords Keyword tool and the Top Search Queries from the Google Webmaster Tools.

Try to think like a user. What kind of words or expressions will they use to look for your Hubs in Google? We have a couple of tools that can help you find topics that 1) are a bit lacking in inventory, and 2) have the highest search volumes. These tools are the Google AdWords Keyword tool and the top search queries from the Google Webmaster Tools. A lot of successful Hubbers and AdSense users have used these tools to find niche topics to write about. Go ahead and give these tools a try!

[Simone’s Note: We should clarify that only site owners have access to Webmaster Tools, but we do make some of that information available to the community from time to time in the Answers section on HubPages.com]

3. Use unique and accurate titles.

The best is to give each Hub a unique title so that Google can differentiate them from each other.

Titles should also be accurate and descriptive so that interested users know what your Hubs are about and click on them. But they should also be brief because Google will only show a portion of it in the search result if the title is longer than 60 characters including spaces.

4. Promote your Hubs internally and externally.

The web is made of countless hyperlinks. So linking your Hubs will help Google to evaluate how important your Hubs are which results in a better ranking in the search results.

Therefore, I strongly recommend that you link to your Hubs as much as possible within your own Hubs, other hubs, your sites, and other sites.

Back to the first tip, a good Hub with authentic, non-scripted, easy-to-read and structured content be naturally promoted by other Hubs and sites!

Tip: you can see which are the sites that link to your Hubs by using the Google Webmaster Tools. For more information, please visit this page.

I hope that these tips help you write great Hubs and will bring you more AdSense revenue. I know I’ve repeated this quite a few times but I can’t stress it enough – Focus on the quality of your content first and foremost! Afterwards the revenue will follow!

It was a great pleasure for me to come here on this blog and tell you about how AdSense can help you earn more money. To end this post, I’d like to thank you all from the AdSense Team in Dublin, Ireland, for using AdSense!

-Thomas

I HAVE TRIED TO SIGN UP FOR AND SENSE,BUT ON MY FIRST ATTEMPT, I MADE AN ERROR, SO I RE ENTERED TOH INFORMATIONAND NOW ADSENSE WON’T TAKE IT AND I CNT CORRECT THE ERROR SO THEY WONT LET ME SIGN UP FOR ADSENSE, SINCE I DONT HAVE ADSENSE I DONT QUALIFY FOR THE HUB PAGES PAYMENT PROGRAM.

CAN YOU REVIEW MY CASE AND FIND A WAY TO LET ME JOIN?

    THANK YOU JOECOX

  3. Thomas, thanks for sharing the info. Since I am a stock photographer, I am no stranger to keywords. I also believen all my hubs are authentic and original, with quality photos of my own.

However, my Adsense earning has dropped significantly in recent months, and it makes it a waste of time to write more. Could you please enlighten me as to why? Thanks.

    Charline

  4. Thank you so much. But please inform me how can i add hubpages link on webmaster. Because for inputing link on webmaster it is need to varified it by adding a code on website. So here how can i do it.

  5. Thanks Tran for your very helpful comments and advice…I didn’t realise how important linking my hubs and those of others was, so will get right to it and start linking…cheers and thanks again for your words.

  6. Thanks Tran for sharing with the community! The hubs you referred to in regard to writing original, authentic, non scripted, easy to read, structured articles are amazing. I think these tips can help all of us write better, more interesting hubs that our targeted audience is searching for. I like the emphasis on unique and original. There has been quite a lot of discussion recently about what content is acceptable and I think your tips will help clarify what falls within Google AdSense’s policies. Thanks for taking the time to share your advice with the HP community.

  7. My article that is listed in this blog has a sum total of 3 google views over the last 6 days since publishing. I’m hoping that it’ll raise through the rankings naturally though, as I am really inept at SEO!

It’s disconcerting and discouraging knowing that to really succeed on Google you have to go out an get a lot of links – that really takes time away from article writing and I know for one that my articles will suffer if I have to do this every time…..

  8. Color me unimpressed by this post. Some bloke from Google, so obscure that he doesn’t have a job title, advises Hubbers to “write good content” and make backlinks. Well, wow.

  9. Hey Thomas, why don’t you penalize the “authority” sites for swapping content with each other like you do us? Heck, I can’t even put a hub on Business Insider where I contribute articles because of the double standard Google has. This is BS man. You have no clue who is an authority and who isn’t.

  10. The google adsense team won’t accept my application because of this issue called “Domain Ownership”

It would be great if you can actually tell us how to put the snippet “This post confirms my ownership of the site and that this site adheres to Google AdSense program policies and Terms and Conditions” into the HTML code source.

I believe this is not doable since we do not actually own the domain.

  11. HI, I HAVE WRITTEN SEVERASL HUBS WHICH MAY OR MAY NOT BE GOOD. I HAVE TRIED TO SIGN UP FOR AND SENSE,BUT ON MY FIRST ATTEMPT, I MADE AN ERROR, SO I RE ENTERED TOH INFORMATIONAND NOW ADSENSE WON’T TAKE IT AND I CNT CORRECT THE ERROR SO THEY WONT LET ME SIGN UP FOR ADSENSE, SINCE I DONT HAVE ADSENSE I DONT QUALIFY FOR THE HUB PAGES PAYMENT PROGRAM.CAN YOU REVIEW MY CASE AND FIND A WAY TO LET ME JOIN?

  12. Wow, I don’t know that writing on hubpages can generate earnings from Google adsense. Will find out how is this possible… Thanks Thomas

  13. Hmmmm…I was doing all that and Panda still kicked the crap outta me.
    Any other ideas?
BTW, I have filed well over 100 DMCAs since the Panda “upgrade”.
I thought Panda was supposed to keep scraped sites from outranking the originals.
    I’m not seeing that.

  14. Thomas you have given some good advice though I think the order is out of sync for this site. Hubbers that want traffic and high CTR should first research their topic and select a niche that has a good search volume and low competition level. Next, they need to select a unique title and URL that contains their keywords. Then you write your unique content that delivers what your competition does not. Lastly, promote the heck out of it. There really is no need to link internally since there are many on page links that do this for you, such as tags, profile link, and related hubs links. Getting relevant external links should be the goal of every writer here and the best external links are those that you create with anchor links on high PR sites such as through guest blogging. A guest blog post will allow you to surround your anchor link with relevant content and provide a win-win scenario for you and the blog you post on.

  15. well thanks thomas, this tip is cool for me and it really helped me a lot in ads thnk, well! i need more such kind of tips.

  16. This is exactly why Google modified the algorithm to remove low quality content from the search results. Folks out to make a quick buck can’t write quality content.

  17. Thanks Thomas, it is good to know that second to authentic content comes the importance of backlinks. Does it matter whether these links come from a WordPress post with related content or come from a Widget that displays a list of related links?

    Thanks, Demian

  18. If you write Nobel prize quality literature on your website you will be found somewhere on page 2007 of Google’s search results.
The reality of search as it presently operates is that the only thing that really matters is backlinks.

By relying on backlinks to decide on website relevance for a search term Google is actually denying the web browsing public access to original content.

Regardless of what this post is saying or what the experts say about quality original content I can tell you from experience that quality original content will not , repeat will not get you noticed on the internet.

As with the real estate maxim location, location, location, on the web it is backlinks, backlinks, backlinks.

This my friends is the sad reality of an internet dominated by Google.

  19. Thanks Simone an informative post best to you over in Dublin at the Google offices and thanks for sharing, Hub Pages is very good.
