Screen shot 2013-09-11 at 10.01.48 AMHubPages is excited to announce or annual Hubbie Award Winners!

How do the Hubbies work? Last month we invited the community to vote for their favorite Hubs and Hubbers of the year. Each Hubber is eligible to win one Hubber-based award and one Hub-based award. Two weeks after opening the polls, we closed them and tallied the votes.  Winners will be given a Hubbie Accolade and be sent a HubPages t-shirt!

And without further ado…

Congratulations to this year’s Hubbie winners!  It was a really close race with so many amazing Hubbers and Hubs to choose from.  Thanks to all those that voted!  Well done, everyone!
If you are wondering, I made the executive decision to remove the “Most Likely to be Banned from the Forums” category.  Frankly, it’s just not nice, and it’s an Edmondson family rule to be kind.  🙂

2013 Hubbie Awards!

Hubbie AwardIt’s that time of year again!  In celebration of HubPages’ 7 Year Anniversary, we are excited to announce the 3rd Annual Hubbie Awards! We invite you to cast your votes for the best Hubs and Hubbers of the year. Those who win will be awarded with one of the most rare and coveted Accolades on HubPages (not to mention the admiration of the entire community) and a fabulous HubPages t-shirt!

Before visiting the official voting form, peruse the awards below and make a list of the Hubs (and their URLs, which you’ll need for the form) and Hubbers you think should win each one. You can only cast your vote once, so be sure to have all your selections ready.

Voting will be open from now until Tuesday, October 1st (votes cast after the 1st at midnight PT will not be counted). Be sure to let your voice be heard!

Hubbie Award Voting & The Importance of Community

Hubbie AwardIn this week’s Online Writing Insider podcast, Robin and I discuss the Importance of Community in writing online (and offline, too!).

In line with this podcast theme, I’m happy to announce that voting for the first annual Hubbie Awards is now open!

To submit your nominations (votes) for each Hubbie Award, enter the username of a Hubber or URL of a Hub into the corresponding text box in our official voting form.  We ask that you only submit your votes once, so make sure that you have all the Hubbers and Hubs you want to nominate on hand before you go to the form (the full listing of candidates is in our previous post introducing the awards).

Voting will be open for three weeks (it closes on August 3rd), so you’ve got plenty of time to think about who you think should win each award, but don’t worry if you don’t have someone in mind for each Hubbie- you don’t have to submit a nomination for each award.

We look forward to seeing which Hubbers and Hubs win each award, and look forward to celebrating the HubPages community with the winner announcements on August 5th!

Introducing the First Ever Hubbie Awards

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again- HubPages would not be anywhere near the amazing site it is without its vibrant community.

Screen Shot 2015-01-13 at 3.06.39 PMTo celebrate awesome Hubbers as well as our fifth birthday, we are going to host the first ever Hubbie Awards on Friday, August 5th.

This coming Wednesday, we will open voting for the Hubbies to the community.  You’ll have three weeks to vote for the winners of this year’s awards, which are both Hub-based (e.g. Best All-Around Hub, Funniest Hub, Most Useful Hub) and Hubber-based (e.g. Best All-Around Hubber, Best Community Activist, Best Poet, Forum King/Queen, and Best Avatar).

Winners will be announced in a special video award ceremony recorded from HubPages Headquarters.  Hubbie Awardees shall be given a special Accolade as well as a HubPages t-shirt.  Best All-Around Hub and Best All-Around Hubber winners will also get HubPages mugs.

We’ll share a link to the voting form in our next newsletter, so keep an eye out for it.  Until then, consider which Hubbers and Hubs you’d like to nominate for each of the following awards so you’ll be all ready to have your say when the time comes.  You’ll only have once chance to vote, so make it count!
