We have three quick announcements for everyone!  First, starting today we will be awarding the Editor’s Choice accolade to all Hubbers who have five or more EC Hubs!  Your accolade will be displayed on your Profile Page along with your other HubPages accolades.  Congratulations to those who receive the accolade; it’s not an easy one to earn!

Second,  several Hubbers have requested the ability to nominate Hubs for Editor’s Choice, and we agree!  Hubbers can now nominate EC candidates by submitting a Hub’s url in this Google form.  Be sure to leave the entire Hub URL (not just the title) and we will try to take a look at these Hubs as soon as possible.

Third,  thanks to our HubPages engineer, Edward Zhang, you are now able to verify your subdomain in Bing’s Webmaster Tools.  We have updated our Google Webmaster Tools Learning Center entry to include instructions for Bing.  Why should you verify your subdomain with Google and Bing?  Here are a few reasons:

  • Get an inside view into how Google and Bing view your subdomain, e.g., crawl and indexing rates
  • Analyze your link and query traffic, e.g, what sites link to your subdomain the most and your most linked content
  • Share information with Google and Bing
  • Check if you have a manual action against your account

Have a great Thursday and Happy Hubbing!

  1. Thank you for the great service, you guys, and especially the updates and the prompt and efficient manner in which you notify us of those updates.

I really like the uptick in your recent progressiveness. You rock, HP team!

    Aloha!

    ~Joe

  2. I think I’m going to check out Bing Webmaster Tools, could be another good resource and I’m glad you folks have made it another option for us. Thanks.

  3. Like that we can nominate hubs to be considered for EC status!

I’d also suggest having the option to un-nominate hubs too! Some of the hubs that have been chosen from my account are a waste of space pretty much, because the info is well out of date and therefore will never rank well in search now.

  4. Heather, that may be something we do in the future. There are still a lot of Hubs to go through, so we thought it best to have an accolade that didn’t specify the number of EC Hubs.

Susana, if you have EC Hubs that you don’t think are deserving, you are welcome to email me the titles and links, and I’ll take a look. We are getting better at choosing EC Hubs, so they could have been chosen in the beginning of our process.

  5. I haven’t tried the bing webmaster tool, or perhaps i did not know about it earlier.! as bing is 2nd best search engine after google. so, one can not ignore Bing. I think this will help me in Bing related SEO.
    thanks for introducing. 🙂

  6. My page views have increased since the advent of the Editor’s Choice designation. I know that there is an accolade for having 5 Editor’s Choice Hubs. I would love to see an accolade for having 100 EC Hubs. As of this writing, 101 of my 113 Hubs have been designated Editor’s Choice.
